SUNDAY GATHERINGS

"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD!'"

Psalm 122:1

We understand it can be a little unnerving to visit a church.

Let us ease your nerves

We have a wide range of people attending each Sunday. Some are investigating the claims of Jesus, others are new Christians, and still others have been following Jesus for many years. No matter where you are in life, all are welcome. This is what you can expect when you visit:

We open our doors at 9:30 am Sunday morning. At 10am most everyone will be seated and our service will begin. We will sing, pray, and hear from God's Word.

Once a month we celebrate the Lord's Supper and every quarter we observe baptism.

On the 4th Sunday at 5:00pm we have evening service. While this gathering reflects the same priorities and It will have a different structure. We will take prayer requests, pray with one another in small groups, sing, and  hear from God's Word.

What to expect in a worship service

Reading Scripture

Believing that the Bible is truly God’s Word, we read it together as a church and consider its implications for us. We read the Bible to call us to worship, to direct us to confess sin, to hear the assurance of pardon through the work of Christ, to study a passage in detail during the sermon, and then as a final word of benediction.

Singing

Through our music we aim to do two things: worship God and lead people to do the same. We play and sing music that is true, good, and aesthetically beautiful with the goal of teaching the truth of Scripture and worship God. We sing modern worship songs and classic hymns, and are typically led with piano or acoustic guitar.

Praying

In the Bible prayer is done both alone and in community. As we gather we are praying together in the adoration of who God is and confessing sin in as we respond to what God requires. Each service one of the pastors prays for our church to faithfully reflect God’s design for us. At this time it’s also our joy to pray for other churches in greater Boston who are aiming to follow God’s Word.

Preaching

Each week a pastor delivers a sermon on a section of Scripture. We practice expository preaching, which means that the shape and emphasis of the sermon reflects the particular passage we are studying. The sermons range between 35–45 minutes and provide historical background, a central proposition, and practical application for Christians and non-Christians. Believing that all of Scripture points to Jesus, every sermon endeavors to show the worth and work of Christ by focusing on a particular facet of the gospel.

But wait, there's more.

A couple other Sunday highlights

Sunday School, Equipping Classes, & Childcare

At 9am we  offer 45-minute Equipping Class for adults and teens as well as Sunday School classes for children. We offer childcare through age 4 during both Sunday School and the Worship Service.

Coffee & Fellowship

After worship we invite everyone to join us for a time of fellowship. Our members prepare coffee and bring refreshments to share. This is a great opportunity to get to know one another.
